Children learn about science through Bible stories and activities.

Description

This book teaches about science in the Bible. There are twenty story/activity units of study. Each unit is two pages in length. There are three more Biblical science activities. There are 1) nature studies 2)crafts 3)activities with adults. The Bible stories are easy to understand

  • The information for the story activities includes the following:
    • "My test" or "My Observation"
    • "Items needed"
    • "Procedure" (how to do the activity)
    • "Data" (record observations
    • "Results" (summarize data) or "Conclusions" (stating if your educated guess was correct and why or why not).
  • Detailed instructions are given for each activity.
  • Measurements are given in US/Imperial and Metric units.
  • Supplies needed for the activities are listed below:
    • Pencil and eraser
    • Colored pencils or crayons
    • Plain paper
    • Old cotton shirt or T-shirt to cut up
    • Scissors
    • Big, old white shirt (optional)
    • Bible
    • Dictionary
  • The appendix includes the following:
    • What next?
    • Index of Scriptures
    • Plan of salvation
    • Index of words
    • Map of Israel
    • Cut-out page

Considerations

  • Written for children ages 6 - 11 years old.
  • Most activities are safe. Needed supplies are easy to get in many countries.
  • Permission is given for printing any needed pages
  • Some pages are for recording observations, personal information, genealogy, or for coloring.
  • Drawings are included for children to color.
  • An introduction to the Bible is provided on page nine in the Introduction for Parents and Teachers.

Limitations

  • This book expects that Bibles and dictionaries are available. If you use this book in a culture without a written language, translations will be needed for the necessary Bible verses and the dictionary words.
  • In some locations not all the activities will have all the needed items, however most can be adapted to any culture.

Guidelines for Use

  • Use with children in schools, camps, vacation Bible school.
  • Record on an audio cassette or CD. Use flipcharts for the pictures, maps, and drawings.
