Description
This book begins with God's creation of the world. This is in the book of Genesis. The book ends with the story of John who wrote the book of Revelation.
There are more than 150 coloring pages. There is an Old or New Testament story on each page. The book has seventy-four Old Testament stories and eighty-four New Testament stories in it. A CD-ROM is included.
It has thirty-four extra pages to color. Bible stories are included with these extra pictures. The CD contains nineteen Old Testament stories and fifteen New Testament stories. A list in the front of the book shows the Bible stories by chapter, verse, and page number.
Considerations
- The coloring pages are 8 1/2"x11". They are clear and simple.
- The Bible stories are usually just half a page long.
- Each Bible story has the Bible chapter and verses listed under the title.
- Bible verses are from the Holy Bible, New International Version
- Permission to copy is given only to the original buyer.
Limitations
Most pictures show the whole scene. Some show only a part of the scene. For children who are not picture literate, an explanation will be needed.
Guidelines for Use
- Storytelling:Copy the coloring page to use while telling the story. For large groups, use transparencies on an overhead projector. Color them as you tell the story.
- Felt Board Figures: Paste a colored page onto poster board. Cut out the main characters. Paste felt on the back of each character. Use these with a felt board for Bible storytelling.
- Story Review: Copy a coloring page for each child. Ask questions about the story as the children color the pages.
- Copy two pictures from each recently told story. Color both pictures the same. Put these pictures face down on the floor. Children take turns turning over two pictures. They try to find two matching ones. Play continues until all pictures have been matched.
- Separate Coloring Books: Copy several coloring pages for each child in a class. Make two covers from construction paper. Put copied pages between the covers. Staple these to make a coloring book for each child.
- Bible Story Puzzle: Color a Bible story coloring page. Paste it onto poster board or cardboard. Cover it with clear sticky paper. Cut into puzzle pieces.
- Puppets: Have children color the main characters. Paste the colored page to poster board. Cut out the figures. Paste them to craft sticks. Children can use these as stick puppets.
