One-sentence summary

A true story of a family turning away from idol worship to worship Jesus.

Description

This is a true story. Bradit was a young boy in Thailand. His family were Buddhist like most people in Thailand. Bradit's family had a shelf high on the wall in their home for idol worship.

While playing alone in his house one day Bradit broke off the head of a family idol by accident. Bradit's father was very angry, his mother was frightened, and Bradit was scared. Bradit lied to his father about breaking the idol. When his father learned the truth, Bradit was punished. After the punishment, Bradit asked “If the idols can't help each other, how can they help us?” This question troubled his father.

Later, while visiting neighbors, Bradit's father saw that they had removed their idol shelf. They had become followers of Jesus. Their Bible told about God who made the world. Bradit's father went back to the neighbor's house often so he could learn more about their God. After Bradit's parents became followers of Jesus they burned their idols.

At the end of the story, Bradit's father asks him, “Do you know why this happened? It's because you broke the Happy Idol! You thought it was a mistake but see—it has made us like new people!”
